Seen me around Kalgoorlie Boulder and the Goldfields?
That’s because I get around.
I love living in Kalgoorlie Boulder. Since moving to KB over 13 years ago, I’ve made sure to be involved in our community. I show gratitude to those who have helped me by playing a role in building a stronger community, which welcomes change and is resilient when faced with challenges.
My favourite causes do not contribute as much to our economy as mining and manufacturing. By enriching our lifestyle with a high stanard of services, education and social events, our standard of living and everyday happiness knows no bounds.
I champion for the tourism and arts & cultural industries.
Kalgoorlie Boulder based projects:
All things Art make my heart sing.
I have been very fortunate to have been appointed the Project Assistant for Heartwalk CBD. Over 2 years and under the direction of Creative Director, Paula Fletcher, Kalgoorlie Boulder has come alive with over 50 murals painted mostly by local Goldfield’s artists.
Keeping up the momentum in arts, my next project has been the creation and delivery of 8 short training videos for reference by tourism operators and arts practicioners based at over 600 culturally significant sites, encompassing 700,000 square kilometres of Western Australia as part of Our Gems WA.
Managed by Artgold, this huge (literally) project will provide for residents and visitors a central resource for discovering and following must-see attractions and events in our region.
Kalgoorlie Boulder is for families
My most recent project is close to my heart. As a Mum to four beautiful kids, all born in Kalgoorlie Boulder, having a nappy bag sized resource for all things to do with raising children in the Goldfields is a must have.
Contracted by Parenting Connection WA, the 2018 edition of the Kalgoorlie Boulder Kids Stuff Directory has been super fun to create. In partnership with the Kalgoorlie Boulder Early Years Strategy Group, this A5 booklet was put together based on the 2012 version but has a contemporary look and most importantly, up to date information for child care and education, health and wellbeing services, and fun stuff to do with kids in Kal.
You can grab a copy of the Kalgoorlie Boulder Kids Stuff Directory from your child’s school, childcare provider or child health nurse. Alternatively, there is a downloadable version via the City of Kalgoorlie Boulder’s website.
Dinner and a Blog:
For the past 5 years I have written copy for websites and print marketing that doesn’t include a byline so you imagine how chuffed I am to be attributed the author of this piece in the Esperance Tide magazine.
If you need a review or opinion piece about attractions, food & drink or anything Kalgoorlie Boulder, I’d love to help you. I can write 25 words or 2300 (which was the total of the linked piece when only 500 was needed – I couldn’t help myself, Fervor Dining is delicious!)
I promise I’m not trying to be disruptive but I do like to ask questions
I recently created a Go Fund Me campaign. Ugh, I know, desperate hey?
My quest? I was seeking funds to be able to purchase a ticket to the KBCCI What’s Down the Track Forum. It’s an industry heads type of event, lots of presentations from leaders in mining, government (all levels) and a smattering of tourism and livability issues. Childcare anyone?
I posted the campaign at midnight and within 48 hours had not only enough to cover my ticket but a ticket for a friend and even change for some t-shirts.
I’m passionate about opening up opportunities for others and felt like I could be a conduit between the decision makers and the community those decisions affect.
I am very fortunate to have some time up my sleeve to voluntarily give to not for profit organisations beyond my contracted projects.
Besides my previous work for the social enterprise We Love KB, I am also;
A Community rep on the City of Kalgoorlie Boulder’s, Grow and Promote Tourism focus group
A Committee Member of the Tour Guides of WA Association
